The PROMISE OF ACCELERATION

Posted by steve in May 19th 2008

Dear Friends,

Firstly, thank you so much for being part of the answer every week to young people who so desperately need positive role models and mentoring today. When I first started working with young people I didn’t call them young people because we were all the same age. Over 20 years later, I have found my passion to reach that age range has multiplied! I consider that to be one of the best gifts god has given me.

That is why I feel qualified to say how vitally important your serving is to this generation. For all those who may never hear a thank you… THANK YOU! Keep going! Don’t quit when you are 30 or 40 or even 90! Keep going! Although you may not always be able to back flips and hand stands you will always be able to love and encourage. (Ok I can still do a handstand but it’s a lot harder than it used to be.)

As I take a moment from the hectic schedule we have here at Rocknations to think about what I should be writing to you about, I feel more like praying for you than writing. As you read these words, know that they stem from my heart of prayer for you.

For months now God has been speaking to me about acceleration. I know so many quality young people and their leaders that are doing everything they can do to see acceleration in their churches and youth ministries. ‘Whatever the Cost” is not just a song by our house band RPM it is the cry of our hearts that is finding an echo amongst many in the UK today.

For those of you who don’t know Rocknations, we are the yp ministries of ALC Bradford and more recently Abundant Life Belfast. http://www.youtube.com/user/AbundantLifeChurchUK
We are also busy with supporting many churches in our network and many more who aren’t through awesome projects like Hope 08.

Did I mention busyness yet? Are you busy like me? At the time of this writing my wife is preaching in North America so I am looking after our two gorgeous children ages 5 and 2 and in itself keeps me busy. But I am mentioning that to let you know how important it is to prioritise your life for maximising effectiveness. Which raises the question, “how can I help you in this short time we have together today?” I have thought about that carefully and this is my response.

I feel the best way I can help you is to show you what works. Did Jesus say a picture is worth a thousand words? I don’t think so, but its true nonetheless! Ok are you ready… this is an unashamed plug… because I believe when you see what works, growth occurs. You need to see Rocknations 08. Why? Because it can bring accelerated growth to your world. It’s the promise of acceleration.

That is a big promise to make. But it’s not my promise! It’s a promise that God makes to every believer who is putting His word into practice. It’s the Promise of Acceleration. Have you ever wanted to accelerate a process that would normally take years? Why is it that even with faster transport, instant communication and hundreds of time saving conveniences we are still not seeing the kind of breakthrough promised to the local church? I believe its because in recent decades much of the church has been more concerned with holding onto the past rather than reaching and embracing the future. In Jn 4:35 Jesus explains harvest. In seizing the harvest acceleration occurs and the future is improved.

To help you experience acceleration some of the leading communicators in the world today are ready to meet with you at RN08. Reinhard Bonnke is a man who is seeing incredible response to the gospel worldwide often seeing more than a million people coming to Christ in a single meeting. Have a look at this!

Matthew Barnett is literally transforming inner city LA by leading the Dream Centre and has inspired hundreds of other Dream Centres around the globe. Ok now have a look at this!

If you have watched that and don’t know anything about Rocknations then watch this!

God is up to something and it’s BIG! Its reaching through many church networks and various denominations so that we can accomplish 2 Pet 3:12 in our generation. We want to sped the return of Christ. Here is a startling fact… 42% of the 16,257 people groups in the world have still not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have some acceleration to do1

Maybe you are labouring for God in an environment that is hard work for little return. That is why my commitment is to bring you people who aren’t just talking about reaching nations but a literally rocking nations by the power of God. If you want to experience dynamic growth then this is an opportunity. It’s not the only opportunity, but it’s the best one that I can offer you today!

Prayerfully consider this promise of acceleration and how you can receive this promise believing that acceleration will occur in your life and ministry.

Mercy Ministries 25 Year Celebration

Posted by steve in May 2nd 2008

OK people,
This week I have been at Mercy Ministries in Nashville TN where our dear friend Nancy Alcorn is celebrating 25 years in ministry. Mercy Ministries is incredible and has changed the lives of so many young women.

Thursday the Mercy fund-raiser was at the Tenessee Titan Football stadium… I love nfl and it was a great night… Pro bowl footballer Kevin Mawae mc and tonight a concert with many artists… Barlow Girl,
Israel and New Breed, CC Winan and so many more.

but the highlight of the night is when Natalie Grant sang Held…
following a story of a couple who lost their daughter through a drug overdose, this Mom and Dad shared how their daughter had been on the waiting list for a mercy home but she died before she could find a place.
This Mom and Dad decided that they would do everything they can do to stop any more young women from dying, so they decided to work closely with Mercy.

They are have gone on to help many young women since then and their story although tragic is an inspiration to many. Take a moment to look at the Mercy website and you will not be disappointed. www.mercyministries.org

Huge credit to Nancy Alcorn, who is a modern day hero in the faith of Christ. 25 years of success is worth celebrating. Nancy has done an outstanding job and the best is yet to come!

The Begining

Posted by Rob in April 30th 2008

Welcome to the very first entry in the Rocknations Blog! What you will find here is articles and blogs from some of the Rocknations Team. We want to share our story; our hopes and even some of our dreams so that you will be encouraged in your journey through life.

The art of story telling has been slightly lost in some ways and replaced in others. There is nothing like hearing a good story, it’s probably one of the reasons why we like watching movies so much! Stories entertain, inspire, challenge, teach, compel, and calls for an emotional response. When someone tells you about their story, you learn more about them and you begin to trust them more because they have shared part of their life with you. It’s not easy sharing every aspect of you life especially the parts you’re not proud of, but Eph 5:13 states “everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light!”

In other words, God can use anything in our lives for good no matter what we think of it! The best stories are the ones we are connected to, the ones we witnessed first hand, and the ones we are personally involved with. These are the stories we have all the details on. We tell them with passion and with vivid description. If we are not connected to the story in some way, the interest in storytelling is reduced to mere information. It’s the same with our journey with Jesus. We can turn up to a youth or church meeting week in week out, and lack passion.

Why? Because we don’t allow ourselves to be close enough to be connected. The closer you are the better connection you will have.
The only way of getting that is to spend time with God and each other as often as we can. We may never know how our story will impact another’s life, but if you don’t share it, it never will!
